RESEARCH

Research from Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York (April 2003) shows that Acupuncture helps to:

  • Increase blood flow to the uterus and increases uterine wall thickness, which improves the chances of an ovum implanting in the uterine wall
  • Reduce anxiety, stress, and hormones secreted during stressful situations which can significantly decrease fertility
  • Normalize hormone and endocrine systems that regulate ovulation, especially in women with Polycystic-Ovarian Syndrome
  • Positively affect the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, which plays a key role in fertility
  • Impact plasma levels of the fertility hormones: Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Estradiol (E2) and Progesterone (P)
  • Regulate the menstrual cycle

In the journal of Fertility and Sterility (April 2002) German researchers concluded that by adding Acupuncture to Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) the success rates of IVF increased significantly. The standard in-vitro group had a 26.3% pregnancy rate, while the acupuncture group showed a 42.5% success rate.
